Artist Presentation, READ CAREFULLY

Artist Presentations

Pick a photographer you are interested in. EXCEPT ANSEL ADAMS.
Look this person up. Find out about their methods of art making (traditional, non-traditional, digital), their prefered subjects, the conceptual basis for their work (what does the work mean? why is this person compelled to make art?) Do you think their work accomplishes what they set out to create? What do you find strong in their arguments and work? What do you feel could be done better if anything?

Write 3-5 TYPED pages (3 pages min.) explaining what you found. Focus on concept!! Use AT LEAST two images as examples and turn in copies of those images with your paper.

This report must be typed, double spaced, done in some form of academic writing style. You must have at least TWO sources cited at the end in a Work Cited page. Please use proper citation style for quotes and paraphrases in your work. All the usual paper things count. EDIT your work.

Be prepared to talk about this person’s work for 10 minutes. You can bring in a powerpoint presentation, jpg images that can be opened in preview, or you can bring in GOOD prints from your printer, or books or a combination of these. Make sure that you have between 10 and 15 images to present to the class.

Here’s a list of potential artists. You are NOT limited to these folks or to digital photographers. These are just some suggestions.

If we have work by the person you choose at the CCP, I STRONGLY suggest that you make an apointment and see the real deal.

EMAIL ME YOUR CHOICE....i don't want repeat presentations. it's first come, first serve on topics. i will post a claimed list as folks choose

sketchbook assignment 3

okay...this one depends on if you 've done assignment no. 2....if you haven't done that yet, get going!...if you have, then read on

think back to the lists you made.....if you need to do additional listmaking to complete this assignment, please do so......look at that lists assignment....pick out the three things that you thought about most, and write longer explaintions of each....why did they come up more often? is there any connection between the three things? how could you see those issues becoming a part of your photographs? making lists of things that you could photograph to represent your ideas is a great way to work on this...i love list making...i use it all the time....it's totally a graphic design based brainstorming technique that you can use to help plan your day of image making

again, i'm going to skim this rather than read every word, so please don't feel that you need to sensor yourself...it will help you more if you don't

SKETCHBOOK ASSIGNMENTS 2, and 3 will be checked on MARCH 24th! Don't forget!!

color correction and cloning assignment

so here's your assignment.....pull the photo at the bottom of this entry from the blog (click and drag) onto your desktop....open this jpg in photoshop and color correct it first....then using the healing tool and cloning tools to remove the lettering from the rock.....the goal is to make the photo as natural as possible....work to make the rock look like the words were never there!.....this should be fun not frustrating.....do if you get stuck don't freak out....just do the best job you can!
